Olga Berg designers have trawled the globe for inspiration, drawing on the latest catwalk trends to produce some of the season’s most covetable handbags. References are as diverse as the metallic amour of medieval martyr Joan of Arc to the vivid colours and stark, geometric shapes of the Art Deco era, from romantic and traditional paisley prints, to Eastern European tribal looks that take soft matte faux-leathers and matches them with flocked velvets to create squashy, slouchy bags featuring gathered and shirred panels punctured by bronze metallic trims.
Summer’s love affair with colour continues, barely toning down its hues to complement winter’s more somber shades. Burnished antique metallics contrast with pinkish reds, rich old golds and earthy tans. Add a daring dash of colour to one of winter’s city suits with a fuchsia pink clutch, gleaming stone tote or vibrant purple satchel.
And just as important as shape and colour is texture: mesh, plaited handles, perforation detailing, shiny patents, soft gathering and cushy, crimp-like shirring with fabric-like appeal.
Metallic shades and textures dominate with chain mail silver and gold, gunmetal grey and shimmering black leading the pack. At the other end of the colour spectrum is a rainbow palette featuring canary yellow, electric blue, shocking pink and regal green. Shapes go from hard case minaudières and clutches that snap shut with dazzling jeweled clasps to dainty envelopes of gathered silk, sheer organza or delicate lace.
The Olga Berg Autumn/Winter 08 collection offers a colour, style and silhouette to complete every fashion trend and is now available in stores.
